Position Description

The Vice President of Operations oversees a division of markets and is a key business leader in the organization. The role utilizes strong business knowledge to establish strategic direction and oversee the profitability and operations activities of the division by leveraging resources and partnering with their team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works in partnership with the Senior Leadership team to create and build the corporate strategic plan.
  • Establishes clear objectives in support of the corporate strategic plan for their leadership team, then supports them as they are held accountable to deliver upon those objectives.
  • Understands the financial drivers of the business and uses them in making decisions that drive the business, which delivers consistent profitable growth.
  • Creatively chooses options and tactics to increase sales and drive efficiency.
  • Facilitates Period Business Reviews with the team to understand financial wins/losses and determines internal strategies to overcome losses and capitalize on wins.
  • Effectively measures division performance against established KPIs and identifies actions to leverage areas of strength and/or improve performance.
  • Drives key strategic and operational initiatives and provides resources and support to their Directors of Operations in the development of their short-term and long-term objectives
  • Accurately appraises the strengths and weaknesses of direct reports, and provides specific, timely, behavioral feedback to create strong leadership teams across the division.
  • Proactively manages performance through regular one‐on‐one coaching, assistance in developing and reviewing progress on development plans, recognizing accomplishments, and making impartial reward decisions.
  • Creates highly skilled and well-developed leadership teams, through effectively managing the succession planning process, identifying high performers, delegating projects, assigning development opportunities, and providing visibility to senior leaders.
  • Builds and cultivates direct relationships with the franchisor, serving as a brand liaison through various committee representations.
  • Communicates changes openly, builds support for initiatives, solicits, and encourages feedback, anticipates resistance to change, explains the rationale behind changes, and follows up to manage change.
  • Creates a culture that drives our values, inspires teams, and retains top talent. Embodies the culture through influence, motivation, and their own passion for the role.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to change, embraces it as a way of life in a competitive environment, and encourages others to embrace it.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required; College Degree preferred
  • Eight to ten plus years of multi-market level supervision, within the restaurant industry
  • Ability to drive results and change through direct reports.
  • Ability to influence other senior leaders and challenge ideas and norms with thoughtful arguments.
  • Advanced financial acumen and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Proven record as a good team player with an understanding of how to deliver both personal and team goals
  • Capacity to work independently or as part of a team including a willingness to take a "hands on approach" to deliver results on projects as needed
  • Excellent management, coaching, and mentoring skills who can effectively direct field operations to maximize revenues and profits.

Physical Qualifications required:

  • Travel within the assigned division and visit markets/restaurants weekly.
  • Travel by automobile and plane across the division and sit for a prolonged period.
  • Stand and walk 100% of the time during restaurant visitation, with the ability to remain mobile during the visit.
  • Verbally communicate to employees, guests, and vendors in person, on the phone, and via electronic meeting platforms.
  • Safely work in an environment that includes wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, and stooping.
  • Repeatedly lift and carry up to 25 pounds during restaurant visits.
  • Wear protective hand coverings during restaurant visits.
  • Work with disinfectant cleaning supplies during restaurant visits.
  • Wear protective face coverings and/or masks during restaurant visits.
  • Frequently wash hands with disinfecting soap during restaurant visits.
  • Safely respond in emergencies to avoid imminent dangers to self and others.

Additional Position Requirements:

Ability to work extra hours (exempt), weekend hours, holiday hours, evening hours, as required; ability to accommodate the likelihood of a variable work schedule from week to week; travel within assigned area and throughout the organization as requested; driving on company business (requires valid driver's license and auto insurance coverage meeting or exceeding state requirements for property damage and bodily injury).
