About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President and General Counsel to serve as its chief legal advisor. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on a wide range of legal, regulatory, governance, and employment law matters, with a focus on supporting the organization's mission and operations. This role involves overseeing the review, drafting, and negotiation of various legal documents, including contracts and gift agreements, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies. The VP/GC will also be responsible for managing legal risk, coordinating legal activities, and representing the organization in all legal demands and litigation.Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-approved law school, be a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association in good standing, and have significant senior-level experience in providing legal guidance to nonprofit organizations and governmental entities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in contract management, legal research, and analysis, as well as the ability to identify and address legal, organizational, and ethical issues. A strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment affecting higher education, particularly in relation to the organization's mission, is highly preferred. The role requires a professional with sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
