First Citizens Bank is a top-performing financial institution with a growing Capital Markets platform serving commercial, corporate, sponsor-backed, and institutional clients. Our Foreign Exchange team partners with clients to identify, manage, and hedge currency risk while providing market intelligence and strategic advisory solutions. We are seeking a seasoned Foreign Exchange professional to join our New York-based team covering Private Equity and Venture Capital firms. This individual will be responsible for developing senior-level sponsor relationships while delivering foreign exchange risk management, advisory, and execution capabilities. This role involves managing a portfolio of clients, executing trades, and proactively seeking new business opportunities through in-depth client discovery.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to Private Equity and Venture Capital clients, helping them navigate foreign exchange exposures associated with international investments, M&A activity, capital markets transactions, and ongoing portfolio operations. This is a client-facing revenue-generating position requiring deep understanding of FX markets, derivative products, and the unique needs of financial sponsors and their portfolio companies.
Client Coverage & Business Development
• Develop and manage relationships with PE and VC firms throughout the Northeast with focus on New York.
• Operate with a hunter mentality and proactively source FX opportunities across sponsor firms and portfolio companies.
• Generate new business, increase wallet share, and develop strategic account plans.
• Partner with bankers, capital markets professionals, treasury and segment leaders to originate and execute opportunities.
FX Advisory, Risk Management & Execution
• Advise on cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, capital calls, distributions, foreign currency debt, and treasury activities.
• Structure and execute spot, forwards, swaps, options, and cross-currency swap solutions.
• Present hedging strategies and currency risk assessments to CFOs, Treasurers, Operating Partners, and investment professionals.
• Coordinate execution from origination through settlement and support client onboarding, documentation, credit lines, and platform setup.
Market Knowledge & Product Strategy
• Maintain expert knowledge of FX markets, monetary policy, geopolitical developments, pricing, and hedging products.
• Contribute to sales strategy and go-to-market plans for sponsor and middle-market segments.
• Collaborate with trading, operations, legal, credit, and risk teams to deliver client solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and 4 years of experience in Foreign Exchange Sales, Capital Markets, Treasury Sales, or related financial markets role OR HS diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Foreign Exchange Sales, Capital Markets, Treasury Sales, or related financial markets role
Strong understanding of FX products, derivatives, financial risk management, and hedge accounting concepts.
Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated record of revenue generation and business development.
• Experience covering Private Equity, Venture Capital, asset managers, or sponsor-backed companies.
• Existing sponsor network within the New York market.
• MBA, CFA, CTP, or NFA Associated Person Certification.
Travel required for client meetings, prospecting, industry events, and internal meetings.

Additional Information:The base pay for this position is generally between $194,100.00and $258,800.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
