Pharmaceutical distributors are the unseen backbone of the U.S. healthcare ecosystem, delivering lifesaving therapies and medical products that help millions of Americans every day. The Healthcare Distribution Alliance supports its members in navigating regulations and industry innovations so they can operate efficiently amid growing supply chain complexity. As Vice President of Finance and Accounting, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and supervising one direct report, you will serve as a hands-on and strategic leader, partnering with senior leadership to shape financial strategy while overseeing all accounting and finance operations for a $29MM annual budget and $18MM in reserves.

This is an opportunity to join a financially strong organization with a collaborative and collegial team, well-functioning processes, and a consistent record of clean audits. You will maintain and build on that foundation by ensuring strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and accurate, timely financial reporting to support organizational decision-making. You will work closely with HR, IT, and internal budget owners, while managing relationships with external vendors and financial institutions.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Success in your first 1-2 years will be demonstrated by:

  • Process Improvement. Assess current accounting processes and identify opportunities to automate, including the integration of AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
  • Staff Partnership. Serve as a trusted financial partner, supporting the budget process across departments and helping staff build proficiency with financial software and standardized workflows.
  • Accounting Operations. Maintain a timely and disciplined month-end close process, uphold HDA’s strong audit record, and proactively surface issues and provide recommendations to the COO.
  • Systems Implementation. Oversee the remaining rollout of Martus, the new budgeting platform, including the migration of payroll budget processes in partnership with HR.
  • Team Leadership. Serve as a supportive manager to the Associate Director, providing direction, regular feedback, and opportunities for increased responsibility and professional growth.
