    Veterinary Technician Atlantic Equine Services

    Job Description

    Atlantic Equine Services offers a full array of expertise in sport horse management, lameness diagnosis, imaging, treatments and rehabilitation. The founder, Dr. Omar Maher is a world-respected expert in lameness and sports medicine, and has practiced equine veterinary medicine in four continents. We are available throughout the Northeast, New England and Florida.

    We are seeking an experienced Equine Veterinary Technician, with a minimum of two years' experience, ideally in a sports horse setting.

    • Full Time - 5-6 days a week, some weekends, all depending on season
    • Approximately 40-50 hours per week. Overtime is compensated

    Summary:

    • Assist veterinarians with ambulatory farm calls, examinations, treatments, and procedures.
    • Safely and confidently place and manage IV catheters and administer medications as directed.
    • Collect, handle, and process bloodwork and other diagnostic samples.
    • Assist with joint injections and other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
    • Prepare and maintain equipment, medications, and supplies for ambulatory calls.
    • Assist with lameness evaluations, including jogging, lunging, and handling horses safely.
    • Assist with radiography, ultrasound, and other diagnostic imaging procedures.
    • Monitor patients during and after procedures and communicate changes to the veterinarian
    • Properly restrain and handle horses while prioritizing safety for the horse, client, veterinarian, and team.
    • Assist with loading, unloading, and transportation of equipment and supplies.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2 years experience working as an Equine Veterinary Technician.
    • Strong equine handling and horsemanship skills.
    • Demonstrated experience placing IV catheters and drawing blood.
    • Comfortable assisting with injections, joint procedures, lameness evaluations, and diagnostic testing.
    • Ability to confidently jog and lunge horses for veterinary evaluations.
    • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
    • Valid clean driver's license
    • Ability to lift equipment and supplies and safely work around horses in a variety of environments.
