South Carolina Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care, a Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner, located in Columbia, SC, is looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented, and experienced Veterinary Oncology Technician to join our Specialty Healthcare Team.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a minimum of 3 years of veterinary experience, with at least 1 year of experience in veterinary medical oncology
  • Loves working as part of a collaborative team to provide exceptional patient care
  • Enjoys connecting with clients and providing compassionate, empathetic support
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, strong organization, and emotional intelligence
  • Remains calm and professional in emotionally challenging situations
  • Is dependable, ethical, and committed to continued learning and growth
  • We are seeking experienced, veterinary technician candidates who are motivated, enthusiastic, strong problem-solvers, and advocates for oncology patients and their families. Licensure is preferred but not required. This is a full-time position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside our board-certified oncologist to deliver comprehensive oncologic care
  • Assist with oncology consultations, diagnostics, and treatment plans
  • Safely prepare and administer chemotherapy following hospital safety protocols
  • IV catheter placement and blood draws, including jugular venipuncture
  • Patient restraint for ultrasound, radiographs, venipuncture, and chemotherapy administration
  • Responsible for patient preparation, positioning, monitoring, and operation of CT imaging equipment
  • Knowledge and application of oncology terminology, chemotherapy drugs, and disease processes
  • Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Proper radiographic positioning and imaging techniques
  • Accurate performance of medical math
  • Monitoring hospitalized oncology patients and maintaining accurate medical records
  • Work compassionately with clients to answer questions, provide updates, and explain treatment plans
