The Veterinary Pharmacist plays a critical role in supporting high-quality patient care, education, and regulatory compliance within a multidisciplinary academic clinical environment. This position provides expert oversight of medication use for veterinary patients across multiple species, applying advanced clinical judgment to ensure safe, effective, and compliant pharmacotherapy.The Veterinary Pharmacist collaborates closely with veterinarians, residents, interns, technicians, and students to optimize drug therapy, including extra-label use and compounded preparations when appropriate. The role serves as a key clinical and regulatory resource, ensuring adherence to federal and state pharmacy laws, institutional policies, and best practices for medication safety.In addition to direct clinical support, the Veterinary Pharmacist contributes to the teaching mission of the hospital by educating and precepting learners, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and supporting the ongoing development of pharmacy services that enhance patient outcomes and advance veterinary clinical practice.
