The Role
- Serve as Emergency Veterinarian - Medical Director within a 24/7 emergency and critical-care hospital.
- Lead clinical standards and protocols; participate in daily rounds and oversee case flow from intake through discharge.
- Perform emergency exams, triage, stabilization and ICU management for critical patients.
- Execute and interpret in-house diagnostics; utilize imaging and endoscopy; perform emergency surgery as indicated.
- Ensure accurate medical records, prescribe medications and maintain controlled substance compliance.
- Communicate treatment options, prognoses and cost estimates clearly and compassionately with clients.
- Mentor and support veterinarians and technicians; promote teamwork, efficiency and a positive hospital culture.
- Collaborate closely with hospital leadership on priorities, training and continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an accredited institution
- Active Colorado veterinary license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in emergency practice
- Proficiency in emergency diagnostics and surgical procedures; strong clinical judgment and client communication
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-centered environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work a schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays
- Eligibility to work in the United States
