The Role
- Serve as the clinical leader and medical voice of the hospital, setting and upholding standards of care
- Split focus with the majority of time in direct patient care and remaining time in leadership duties
- Coach, mentor and supervise veterinarians to strengthen clinical proficiency, client communication and medical record quality
- Guide medical protocols, case review and continuous improvement to elevate outcomes and client trust
- Partner with the Practice Manager on staff development, scheduling, workflow optimization and inventory oversight
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including controlled drugs management and radiation safety
- Lead regular doctor meetings and support recruiting, interviewing and onboarding of clinical team members
- Oversee appropriate use and maintenance of medical equipment
- Engage with the local community to support education, access to care and practice growth
- Clinical caseload includes preventive medicine, dentistry, diagnostics, soft-tissue surgery and urgent care for small animals and some exotics
Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
- License to practice (or eligibility to obtain) in the state of Nevada
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Several years of small-animal clinical experience; prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Proficiency in dentistry and soft-tissue surgery; comfort with urgent care is a plus
- Strong communication, organization and team coaching skills
