    Job Description

    Your Impact as a Laboratory and Patient Care Coordinator

    The Laboratory and Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation, organization, quality assurance, and maintenance of the hospital laboratory while serving as a key coordinator in the continuity of patient care. This position ensures accurate and timely processing of in-house and reference lab testing, maintains lab equipment and protocols, coordinates diagnostic workflows, and serves as the primary contact for laboratory troubleshooting and vendor support.

    In addition to overseeing lab operations, this role is responsible for coordinating post-visit patient follow-up, including communicating lab results, completing patient callback communications, documenting interactions in the medical record, and ensuring recommended rechecks, additional diagnostics, and follow-up care are communicated and completed. The Laboratory and Patient Care Coordinator works closely with veterinarians and the medical team to promote seamless communication, exceptional client service, and continuity of care for every patient.

    This position is primarily desk based but requires strong veterinary medical knowledge, technical laboratory skills, exceptional organizational abilities, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, troubleshooting lab equipment, coordinating multiple workflows, and providing compassionate and professional support to both clients and the veterinary team.

    What You'll Bring to the Team

    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a veterinary hospital is required.
    • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or experience as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
    • Experience operating in-house veterinary laboratory analyzers preferred.
    • A genuine love for animals and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
    • A friendly, personable, and empathetic demeanor.
    • Proficient in active listening, with strong computer literacy and typing skills for accurate medical transcription.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • A flexible schedule is required, must be able to work between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM Monday through Friday as well as some Saturdays 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
