Veterinary Assistant

Adams County Animal Hospital - Westminster, CO

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour, based on experience

Adams County Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our small-animal general practice team. We provide wellness care, same-day sick appointments, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics, and preventive care in a supportive, team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during appointments and procedures

  • Safely restrain dogs and cats using compassionate, low-stress techniques

  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas

  • Assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, treatments, and sample collection

  • Support surgical and dental preparation, monitoring, and recovery

  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment and patient-care areas

  • Accurately document patient information and communicate with the medical team

  • Help educate clients about medications, treatments, and follow-up care

  • Provide friendly, professional service to clients and their pets

  • Support teammates and assist with other hospital responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Veterinary assistant experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider motivated candidates with relevant animal-care experience

  • Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments

  • Compassionate, dependable, and attentive to detail

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Able to remain calm and organized in a busy clinical environment

  • Willing to learn and accept feedback

  • Able to perform the physical responsibilities of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting or assisting with animals
