Veterinary Assistant | Chester, VA

On any given day, you might prep a patient for a dental, hold a nervous cat steady for a blood draw, and step up to help the front desk when the phones get busy. And every so often, we close a little early just so our team can spend time together outside the clinic. Many of us grew up right here in Monroe, and we like working with each other. At Suburban Animal Clinic of Monroe, we're hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join that team.

About the Practice

We're a full-service animal hospital serving the pets of Monroe, MI and beyond. Our team brings over 80 years of combined experience, and we use advanced, reliable diagnostic tools to fully understand each patient's health. We're lifelong animal lovers, and we care about the bond people share with their pets. We protect that bond through quality veterinary medicine and respectful service, so every pet can live its best life.

What You'll Help Make Possible

• Smooth exams and treatments, with our doctors and technicians supported every step of the way
• Safe, calm handling for patients during exams and procedures
• Accurate lab results from blood, fecal, and urine samples
• Patients prepped for procedures and monitored closely, with any change reported quickly
• A clean, safe, efficient hospital that's ready for every appointment
• A front desk that stays covered on busy days, because you're willing to jump in

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary setting
• Availability for 10-hour day shifts, including occasional weekends

Preferred:

• Experience with patient restraint, lab testing, and procedure prep
• Comfortable helping with front desk tasks like phones, scheduling, and check-in when needed
• Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
• Clear, kind communication with clients and teammates

Schedule

• Full-time, Day shift
• 10-hour shifts
• Occasional weekends
• No holiday shifts required

Compensation

Compensation for this role ranges from $17.00 to $18.00 per hour, based on experience and role alignment.
