This Veterinary Assistant position primarily support for the technicians and patients within the Large Animal hospital, primarily Equine Critical Care, Medicine, and Surgery & Lameness services whose care are being overseen by faculty, residents and interns. If needed this position may float to other large animal sections including Livestock Medicine and Large Animal Radiation. This position requires a basic knowledge of various medical procedures, biosecurity surveillance, and proper equipment usage. This position will assist in the case management on a day-to-day basis by providing support services such as stocking, cleaning and maintaining equipment after use, and providing continuity of patient care with the guidance of the primary technician on shift.
This position should have the availability to work holidays, overnights, and weekends as we are a 24/7/365 hospital.

In addition to the salary, this position is eligible for differential pay.
Salary Differentials: We offer hourly differentials for certain days/times as an incentive to team members should your shift fall during these days/times. These differentials apply when half or more of the scheduled hours fall between that shift.
+ 20 % of your hourly rate for hours worked 4 pm on Friday – 6 am on Monday
+ 14 % of your hourly rate for hours worked 11 pm – 6 am Monday-Thursday
+ 7.5 % of your hourly rate for hours worked 4 pm-11 pm Monday-Thursday
No formal supervisory duties
HS Diploma or GED
One year of experience caring for horses and providing equine handling experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to one (1) year.
