Hunter Animal Hospital | Salt Lake Valley, Utah

Build the Kind of Hospital You'd Want to Lead

Some leadership opportunities ask you to step into something already defined.

This one gives you the opportunity to help define what comes next.

Hunter Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinarian and people-centered leader to join us as our next Medical Director/Managing Veterinarian (MDVM). Hunter has served its community for years and has something incredibly valuable already in place: a loyal client base, strong community roots, and pet owners who want and need a trusted veterinary team close to home.

Now, we are entering a new chapter.

With new hospital leadership and the opportunity to thoughtfully rebuild our veterinary team, our next Managing Veterinarian will have a meaningful voice in shaping the hospital's culture, clinical standards, team dynamics, and future growth.

This is an opportunity for a veterinarian who doesn't simply want to inherit a hospital-they want to help build one.

    What Makes This Opportunity Different

As Hunter's MDVM, you'll have the opportunity to:

    • Shape the culture from the beginning, partnering with a new Hospital Manager and regional leadership to build a healthy, collaborative, accountable team.
    • Influence future DVM recruitment and help identify veterinarians whose clinical approach and values complement your own.
    • Establish the clinical environment you want to practice in, with an emphasis on quality medicine, communication, teamwork, and sustainable patient care.
    • Re-engage a loyal client community that already knows Hunter and wants to continue receiving care here.
    • Develop and mentor future veterinarians, including the opportunity to help create an environment where early-career doctors can thrive.
    • Have a genuine voice in the hospital's future, rather than stepping into a leadership role where every decision has already been made for you.

    Who We're Looking For

We'd love to meet a veterinarian who:

    • Has several years of clinical experience and is confident practicing independently.
    • Enjoys developing people and creating strong, collaborative teams.
    • Communicates directly, respectfully, and compassionately.
    • Believes great hospital performance begins with a healthy culture and excellent medicine.
    • Is comfortable partnering closely with hospital and regional operations leadership.
    • Wants to mentor and support other veterinarians as the medical team grows.
    • Sees possibility where others may simply see change.

Previous managing experience is valuable, but it isn't the only thing we're looking for. If you've been the doctor others naturally turn to for guidance, mentorship, problem-solving, or leadership, we would love to talk with you.

    Why Hunter?

Hunter's greatest strength is something that can't be manufactured overnight: history and connection to its community.

Our clients have trusted this hospital with generations of pets. The opportunity in front of us isn't to create that trust from scratch, it's to build the veterinary team capable of carrying it forward.

You'll also be joining at a unique moment when your ideas, leadership style, and clinical perspective can have an immediate impact.

If you've ever thought, "I know what a great veterinary hospital could look like if I had the opportunity to help build it," this may be that opportunity.

Come help us write Hunter Animal Hospital's next chapter.
