Exceptional Medical Director role based in Norwalk, CT with bonus potential


Location: Norwalk, Connecticut

Are you an experienced Medical Director looking to lead a busy emergency and specialty veterinary hospital.
This is a 100% leadership, strategic, and management role with no clinical responsibilities.


Looking For:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in veterinary medicine.
• Proven Medical Director experience ideally in an emergency setting (exceptional GP medical directors with ER background may be considered).
• Strong background in ER or specialty medicine the teams need to see credible leadership.
• Ability to manage budgeting, growth, profitability, training, appraisals, and all aspects of hospital leadership.
• A leader with presence, respect, and the ability to inspire and guide a team.


Role Details:

• Compensation: $225,000 $250,000 + 10% bonus potential.
• On-site presence required most of the time (limited remote flexibility, up to one day per week).
• As hospital leader, you may face occasional unsociable hours, though daytime shifts are the standard. Strong planning skills are essential to maintain balance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with the hospital management team to direct Emergency and Specialty Services.
• Oversee doctor recruitment, onboarding, development, scheduling, and performance management.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality patient care in a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment.
• Manage financial performance including budgets, capital planning, and operational strategy.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, professional growth, and referral partner engagement.
• Act as the primary leader and problem solver for escalated patient care and client issues.

• Comfortable managing conflict with maturity and professionalism.
• Board-certified specialists, experienced ER veterinarians, or those with demonstrated veterinary leadership experience are especially encouraged to apply.
