    The Veteran Services Coordinator serves as the institution's designated representative responsible for the administration, certification, and compliance oversight of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) educational benefits. This position ensures accurate enrollment reporting, benefit certification, regulatory compliance, and timely communication with students utilizing VA educational programs.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • 3-5 years of experience in higher education administration, preferably in Registrar, Financial Aid, or compliance-related roles.
    • Experience working with military-affiliated students preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education/Experience

    • 5 years experience working with military-affiliated students and administering VA benefits
    • United States Veteran - Honorable Discharge

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of federal VA education benefit regulations and compliance standards.
    • Working knowledge of Banner Student Information System (or comparable SIS).
    • Ability to interpret and apply federal regulations accurately.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive data.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
    • Occasional lifting of up to ten (10) pounds.
    • Ability to work in a climate-controlled office environment.
    • Ability to maneuver around campus as required.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities

    Essential Duties/Responsiblities

    • Certify student enrollments and submit required documentation through the VA Enrollment Manager system.
    • Maintain compliance with federal VA regulations and institutional policies.
    • Monitor changes in enrollment status (add/drop, withdrawals, program changes, academic standing) and report adjustments promptly to the VA.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance review purposes.
    • Ensure adherence to FERPA guidelines in all student record handling.
    • Advise veteran and dependent students on eligibility requirements, enrollment certification processes, and benefit timelines.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for students utilizing VA benefits.
    • Provide outreach and education regarding certification deadlines, enrollment requirements, and academic progress standards.
    • Assist students with resolving certification discrepancies or benefit payment delays.
    • Serve as the official liaison between the institution and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
    • Respond to VA audits, compliance surveys, and reporting requirements.
    • Participate in required VA training and maintain current knowledge of federal regulations and updates.
    • Collaborate with Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, and Enrollment Management to ensure coordinated support for veteran students.
    • Maintain detailed certification records and documentation.
    • Track veteran student enrollment trends, certification volume, and compliance metrics.
    • Prepare internal reports for institutional leadership regarding veteran population data and program effectiveness.
