Rural Staffing Services® partners with rural hospitals, clinics, community health centers, behavioral health programs, and healthcare organizations throughout Vermont to identify experienced leaders who understand the realities of serving small, rural, and geographically dispersed communities.
We are currently connecting with professionals who may be interested in active and upcoming behavioral health leadership opportunities across Vermont.
These opportunities may be found within Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, community hospitals, integrated care programs, outpatient behavioral health clinics, substance use treatment programs, crisis services, and community-based organizations.
In rural communities, access to behavioral health care can be shaped by distance, workforce shortages, transportation barriers, limited resources, and the close connection between healthcare organizations and the communities they serve.
Strong behavioral health leaders help create programs that are accessible, sustainable, compassionate, and responsive to local needs.
They may lead mental health, substance use, crisis response, social services, psychiatric care, or integrated behavioral health programs while working closely with clinical teams, organizational leadership, schools, public agencies, law enforcement, and community partners.
The strongest leaders understand that behavioral health care does not exist in isolation. It is connected to primary care, emergency services, housing, transportation, workforce stability, social needs, and the overall well-being of the community.
Rural behavioral health leadership requires creativity, collaboration, cultural awareness, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to meeting people where they are.

Vermont's rural communities are shaped by the Green Mountains, forests, farmland, rivers, historic villages, and close-knit towns where healthcare organizations often serve as trusted community anchors.
The beauty and sense of connection found throughout Vermont are meaningful, but distance, transportation barriers, limited provider availability, and workforce shortages can make behavioral health services difficult to access.
Leading behavioral health in a rural Vermont community offers the opportunity to build programs that reflect local needs, strengthen partnerships, and help people receive care closer to home.
The impact of this work may be felt not only by patients, but also by families, schools, employers, healthcare teams, and entire communities.
