The Venture Deal Sourcing Analyst is primarily responsible for identifying, engaging, and qualifying early-stage startup investment opportunities. This role sits at the front end of the venture investment process and works closely with partners, principals, and investment teams to build and maintain a strong deal pipeline.
Analysts develop deep knowledge of startup ecosystems, emerging technologies, and founder networks while acting as a key point of contact for entrepreneurs at the earliest stages of engagement.
Proactively source early-stage startup opportunities through outbound research, founder outreach, and ecosystem engagement
Conduct initial founder conversations to assess team quality, vision, and strategic fit
Build and maintain a robust venture deal pipeline using CRM and internal tracking tools
Monitor accelerators, demo days, incubators, and startup communities for emerging companies
Support market mapping and thematic sourcing aligned with investment theses
Perform initial screening on product, traction, market opportunity, and competitive landscape
Prepare brief opportunity summaries and sourcing memos for internal review
Coordinate handoff of qualified deals to investment team members for deeper diligence
Attend startup events, pitch days, and networking sessions to expand sourcing coverage
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, or a related field
Strong interest in startups, venture capital, and early-stage company formation
Experience in venture capital, startup operations, accelerators, consulting, sales, or community roles is helpful
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
High level of curiosity, initiative, and comfort with outbound outreach
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
Comfortable representing a firm in founder-facing and ecosystem-facing settings
