- 240 days per year.
- At-Will employment agreement.
- Salary is in the pay grade N14 on the Non-
exempt SAISD Compensation Plan.
- Entry hourly rate is at $24.24 with consideration
for directly related experience.
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary
To assist in the attainment of District goals through effective and efficient maintenance of District vehicles. To
improve the level of performance in the Vehicle Maintenance Shop by training and supervising the employees,
ensuring that a high level of ser vice excellence is attained and sustained.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
- Ensures that the shop is following all licensed or regulated activities, including but not limited to OSHA,
EPA, TECQ and District policies.
- Monitors shop activity to ensure efficient use of time, materials, and equipment. Estimate s time required
to complete repairs by using Shop Key Estimator.
- Works with and trains mechanics to meet industry standards.
- Controls the use, care, and repair s of the shop facilities.
- Reviews work in progress and complete work orders to ensure that appropriate repairs were successfully
completed and properly documented.
- Responsible for assisting mechanics in the ordering and requisitioning of all parts and approve materials
required for the repair and maintenance of District vehicles.
- Maintains an accurate inventory of parts by insuring that issued parts are accounted for accurately on
each work order.
- Issues and maintains tools and machinery used in the shop.
- Ensures that all facility defects are promptly report that all shop equipment is safe and operational, and if
not, that necessary repairs are completed.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting
agency).
- 7+ years' experience in vehicle maintenance to include:
o 3+ years of Team Lead experience or equivalent experience.
- Valid Texas Class "B" or "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsements (persons
hired with Class "C" driver's license must obtain the Class "B" CDL license with all required endorsements
within 60 calendar days of employment) .
- CDL License Holders must register, consent, and satisfactory clear a background check of the Federal Drug
and Alcohol Clearinghouse maintained by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier
Safety Administration (FMCSA).
- Safe driving record verified by Texas Department of Public Safety (meets and maintains liability coverage
eligibility).
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee
(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proven a bility to meet alcohol and controlled substance testing requirements set forth by Omnibus
Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991
- Ability to pass annual medical examination per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Working Conditions
Work Environment:
- Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment,
copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
- Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional
exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.)
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or
irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; Occasional: Lifting
and carrying 10 -25 pounds frequently, 25 -40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with
assistance; Pushing/pulling 10 -35 pounds sporadically; May be required under specific circumstances to
provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others; Frequent
districtwide and occasional statewide travel.
Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct R eports
- Supervise personnel in daily work activities including scheduling, assigning work and assessing job
completion, and monitoring leaves and absences
