Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees who provide cleaning service and floor care to more than 40,000 campus customers in the maintenance and operation of the University's 18 million plus square feet over 300 teaching, research, medical, administrative, residential, athletic and library buildings. Position Summary

A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $3,238 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE:

$1,619 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $1,619 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.

This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation and delivery of furniture, materials, supplies, and equipment throughout the campus. The position requires operation of University vehicles to support moving, delivery, and logistics services. Responsibilities also include the routine and detailed cleaning and maintenance of campus moving trucks, other assigned vehicles, pallets, and campus facilities to ensure safe, organized, and professional operations.

  • Must have a valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Requires appropriate licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment.

Management Preferences

Ability to safely and efficiently operate light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles to support campus moving, relocation, and material transportation operations.

Demonstrated experience working with a commercial moving company and/or a university moving crew, including the safe use of commercial moving, lifting and material-handling equipment.

Ability to understand and follow work orders, product labels, and operational instructions, and to prepare clear and accurate daily production and delivery reports.

Demonstrates excellent customer service through clear, professional, and responsive communication with campus customers and stakeholders.

Ability to perform general custodial and maintenance duties, including maintaining the cleanliness of delivery trucks, pallets, and material-handling equipment, as well as routine and detailed cleaning of campus facilities.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have a valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

This position is designated as mandatory and requires the employee to report to work to support critical University operations during adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including public health emergencies or situations that may result in University closure.

Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous and/or sustained physical exertion.

Employees must be able to move objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS

The selected candidate for this position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Qualified applicants must apply and be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

To be eligible for a Sign-on bonus, an individual must not have worked in a probationary, permanent, or time-limited appointment in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government, including but not limited to the judicial system, state executive branch agencies, and the university system in a position subject to the State Human Resources Act.

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours a week) employee are eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week).

This SHRA Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. All recipients must sign the Pay Back Agreement form.
