Opportunity

The Department of Surgery at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Vascular Surgeon to join our expanding academic practice. Appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to build a comprehensive vascular surgery practice within a growing academic health system while caring for a diverse patient population throughout the Gulf Coast. The successful candidate will practice across the USA Health system, including USA Health University Hospital, USA Health Providence Hospital, and affiliated outpatient clinics, while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.

Position Highlights

This faculty position offers the opportunity to develop a broad clinical practice encompassing both open and endovascular vascular surgery while participating in the continued growth of an established vascular surgery program. Faculty enjoy a collaborative academic environment with access to advanced technology, multidisciplinary conferences, clinical research opportunities, and dedicated teaching responsibilities. The position combines a rewarding clinical practice with opportunities to educate medical students, surgical residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers while contributing to quality improvement initiatives and scholarly activity within the Department of Surgery.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient vascular surgical care, including both open and endovascular procedures, while participating in an equitable call schedule. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across multiple USA Health locations, collaborating with specialists throughout the health system, and contributing to multidisciplinary treatment planning. Faculty are expected to actively participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers, while engaging in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and other scholarly activities that support the academic mission of the Department of Surgery and the University of South Alabama.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree (or equivalent), have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Vascular Surgery fellowship, and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Applicants must be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Alabama and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
