Ingleside Communities is currently seeking to hire a Van Driver/Maintenance Assistant.  The Van Driver is responsible for safely and promptly transporting residents of our Senior Living Community to and from appointments at area medical facilities (clinics/hospitals) and on various outings/excursions. He / She safely loads and secures passengers with wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Assists passengers with exiting the vehicle and guiding them to their appointment, providing proper documentation to the facility if needed. Services residents in accordance with facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations.

When not transporting residents, this role also works in maintenance to complete building or grounds tasks as assigned by the department manager. Such tasks could include but not limited to; floor cleaning using provided equipment, minor repairs, and landscape projects. 

Work Schedule:
  • Full-time
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability as needed

Education / Certificate / License:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, with an acceptable driving record
  • CPR Certified
Qualifications Required:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be physically able to waist lift, push and/or pull maximum of 80 pounds
  • Must be able to frequently bend, squat or climb during an 8-hour day
  • Must have a good sense of direction and be able to follow a map and/or GPS
  • Must have ability to complete minor building repairs
  • Must be English literate and be able to communicate with the elderly and the public at large
  • Physical, Mental and Ergonomic Demands:
  • May be exposed to working with chemicals
  • May be subject to differing temperatures
  • May be involved unexpectedly, or on short notice, to tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or mucous membranes
  • May be subject to varying hours to make transport appointments on time (may be subject to early morning hours, early evenings hours, and some weekends)
  • May be exposed to driving in difficult weather conditions (snow, heavy rain, etc.)
Essential Functions of the Job and Departmental Expectations:
  • Transports residents safely to and from appointments at area medical facilities.
  • Ensures residents arrive to their appointments in a timely manner, ensuring they are not late. Uses good judgment and common sense to anticipate traffic or weather-related delays. Transports residents to and from various outings or excursions. May assist during the outing with various tasks to ensure residents safety.
