Valve Technician
Location: Longview, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed
Position Overview
We are seeking a mechanically inclined Valve Technician with at least two to three years of hands-on experience or exposure working with pumps and/or valves. Experience with control valves is preferred, but candidates do not need to be experts. Training will be provided for individuals who have a solid mechanical foundation and are interested in expanding their technical skills.
The position includes both shop and field work supporting industrial customers.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, and related equipment.
- Disassemble, clean, evaluate, and reassemble mechanical equipment.
- Support work involving control valves, isolation valves, pressure relief valves, regulators, and actuators.
- Identify equipment issues and determine the parts or repairs needed.
- Complete repair reports, service documentation, and timesheets.
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal team members.
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Perform additional shop and field duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least two to three years of hands-on experience or exposure involving pumps and/or valves.
- Control-valve experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn valve repair and service procedures.
- Experience with industrial equipment, mechanical maintenance, millwright work, electrical systems, or instrumentation is helpful.
- Technical education or mechanical training is a plus.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an experienced team.
Safety and Physical Requirements
- Follow all established safety rules, quality standards, and work procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment without restriction, including a hard hat, safety glasses, flame-resistant clothing, safety-toed footwear, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when needed.
- Ability to stand or walk for at least eight hours per day.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs and frequently kneel, reach, push, pull, lift, and grasp.
- Must have appropriate hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in conditions that may include extreme heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
- Ability to recognize alarms and respond according to established emergency and safety procedures.
- Maintain a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of coworkers and customers.
Travel and Schedule Requirements
- Travel to customer locations is required and may occasionally include overnight stays, weekends, or extended workdays.
- Overtime is most common during peak spring and fall service periods.
