Valve Technician

Location: Longview, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed

Position Overview

We are seeking a mechanically inclined Valve Technician with at least two to three years of hands-on experience or exposure working with pumps and/or valves. Experience with control valves is preferred, but candidates do not need to be experts. Training will be provided for individuals who have a solid mechanical foundation and are interested in expanding their technical skills.

The position includes both shop and field work supporting industrial customers.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, and related equipment.
  • Disassemble, clean, evaluate, and reassemble mechanical equipment.
  • Support work involving control valves, isolation valves, pressure relief valves, regulators, and actuators.
  • Identify equipment issues and determine the parts or repairs needed.
  • Complete repair reports, service documentation, and timesheets.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal team members.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional shop and field duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least two to three years of hands-on experience or exposure involving pumps and/or valves.
  • Control-valve experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn valve repair and service procedures.
  • Experience with industrial equipment, mechanical maintenance, millwright work, electrical systems, or instrumentation is helpful.
  • Technical education or mechanical training is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an experienced team.

  • Ability to stand or walk for at least eight hours per day.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs and frequently kneel, reach, push, pull, lift, and grasp.
  • Must have appropriate hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in conditions that may include extreme heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
  • Ability to recognize alarms and respond according to established emergency and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of coworkers and customers.

Travel and Schedule Requirements

  • Travel to customer locations is required and may occasionally include overnight stays, weekends, or extended workdays.
  • Overtime is most common during peak spring and fall service periods.
