Summary:
Product Risk & Compliance research sits within Risk Analytics & Research and provides the user-insight foundation for how identifies, understands, and mitigates product risk across the family of apps. Research partners closely with Compliance, Legal, Policy, Product Management, Design, and Data Science. This role provides coverage while FTE researchers are on leave, so continuity on in-flight programs is the priority.
Execute on research programs that shape product and policy direction, not just individual studies. Build comprehensive research plans that cut across business areas, consistently lead highly complex, large-scale, and/or Client qual and quant programs, providing methodological direction in ambiguous situations. Impact is expected to span multiple teams across Product Risk and Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Scope and run mixed-methods studies (interviews, diary studies, surveys, concept and usability evaluation) on how people understand and respond to risk, safety, and compliance-related product experiences.
Own studies end-to-end: research plan, participant criteria and recruiting via preferred vendors, fielding, analysis, and share-out.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data (survey analysis, weighting, descriptive and inferential statistics) and triangulate against qualitative signal and product logs.
Translate findings into recommendations that XFN partners can act on, and socialize them beyond the immediate product team.
Maintain research documentation and handoffs so work is picked back up cleanly when FTEs return from leave.
Education/Experience:
BA/BS in a human behavior related field, such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics

Quantitative competence: survey design and sampling, data cleaning and weighting, and analysis using standard statistical techniques (a scripting/stats tool such as R, Python, or SPSS).
Qualitative depth — leading and adapting varied qual methods, and evaluating assumptions and inferences to produce objective, actionable recommendations
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience conducting international or multi-market research.
Experience working with in-house survey platforms and large-scale behavioral/log data alongside primary research.
Years of Experience: 10 years
Are there any types of candidate profiles or skills that may not be the right fit for this team?
Single-method only, with no demonstrated quantitative analysis of their own.
Portfolio consists of usability tests delivered as reports with no evidence of influencing a decision.
Cannot articulate methodological tradeoffs or how they managed bias and sampling in past work.
No experience operating with XFN partners or in a fast-moving, ambiguity-heavy environment.
Discomfort with sensitive subject matter, or inability to work within research ethics and participant-privacy constraints.
