    Duties and Responsibilities to be performed by the consultant

    UX Engineer II (UI/UX Designer Specialist II) Job description: Managing a team of junior designers Working as part of a team of problem solvers, consulting and collaborating with team members and stakeholders to understand business goals, and helping solve complex business issues from strategy to execution Designing, developing and implementing both client and internal facing applications and providing technology tools that help drive NYS strategic initiatives Using enterprise architecture across application areas to build delivery models that map capabilities to business needs outlined by NYS Using multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations Addressing defects and enhancements as part of the application support lifecycle Participating in incident resolution post implementation as required Creating and carrying out user research plans (i.e., surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.), as well as explaining user research results to internal and external stakeholders Planning and facilitating design thinking workshops (i.e., journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.)

Telecommuting arrangements require direct manager approval and are subject to change based on program needs. Consultants approved for 100% remote work must attend monthly in-person meetings at the Albany office and be available for major milestone meetings as needed.

    Mandatory Qualifications

    Level II- More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a UX Engineer

    Seven or more years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full life cycle of design deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, story boards and user surveys.

    One to two years working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various workstreams in a Health and Human Service setting.

    Desirable Qualifications

    Seven or more years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.

    Two to five years of experience with user research, user modeling and usability testing.

    Two to five years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
