Description

Utility Worker – 2nd Shift
Pay: $18.11/hour + $0.75/hour shift differential
Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
Overtime: Mandatory overtime at the end of the shift when available
Saturdays: Occasional

Position Summary

Advance Services is hiring Utility Workers for a manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position assisting with various production operations throughout the plant.

The Utility Worker serves as a floater, helping different production areas as needed based on staffing, production volume, vacations, and call-offs.
Responsibilities
  • Assist production operators with daily manufacturing activities
  • Feed and stack corrugated materials into production machines
  • Assist with machine setups and production runs
  • Inspect products for quality and remove defective materials
  • Stack, bundle, and prepare finished products
  • Assist with gluing, labeling, die-cutting, flexo, and feeding operations
  • Move materials and loads throughout the production area
  • Use basic hand tools as needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Follow all plant safety and quality procedures
  • Be willing to work in different production areas as assigned
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding manufacturing position.

Candidates must be able to:
  • Stand for extended periods, up to 8–10 hours during a shift
  • Repetitively lift up to 50 pounds for certain production duties
  • Regularly lift and move materials
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and walk throughout the shift
  • Use hands for handling and operating materials and equipment
  • Work around moving mechanical equipment and vibration
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that can be very loud and hot

The specific physical requirements may vary depending on the production area assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred/required per client requirements
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic counting skills
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Manufacturing or production experience is a plus
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Must be dependable and willing to work overtime when required
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise. Temperatures inside the plant may become hot during the summer months.
