Utility Property Accountant (Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced Utility Property Accountant to support the accounting, analysis, reporting, and regulatory compliance of utility fixed assets and construction investments. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate financial recording and reporting of Property, Plant & Equipment (PP&E) in accordance with GAAP and FERC requirements while supporting budgeting, forecasting, regulatory filings, audits, and financial reporting initiatives.

• Record, review, and analyze utility construction and fixed asset transactions for proper GAAP and FERC accounting treatment.
• Prepare fixed asset analyses, account reconciliations, and General Ledger reviews.
• Develop depreciation and amortization models supporting annual budgets and five-year financial plans.
• Support regulatory filings, including Base Rate Cases, infrastructure filings, and requests from oversight agencies and independent monitors.
• Assist with preparation of schedules and disclosures for SEC filings, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
• Support preparation of annual FERC Form 1 filings and other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Perform monthly financial analysis, including actual versus budget and prior year variance reporting.
• Support internal and external audit requests and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.
• Prepare account analyses, reconciliations, and management reporting packages.
• Develop and maintain PowerPlant fixed asset system reports and queries.
• Partner with Finance, IT, and Financial Systems teams to improve processes and optimize reporting capabilities.
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives, including automation opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or CPA designation with a degree in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Knowledge of SAP.
• Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility property accounting experience.
• Experience with the PowerPlant Fixed Asset System.
• CPA and/or advanced degree.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements within SAP.
• Process automation and continuous improvement experience.
