Utility Machine Operator - Woodworking & Manufacturing

Position Overview As a Utility Machine Operator, you will operate a variety of mechanical and computer-aided woodworking machines to produce high-quality furniture parts. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of wood species, and the ability to maintain dimensional accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Identify and grade various wood species (e.g., Cherry, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Birch, Veneers) according to Stickley standards.
• Read and interpret production tickets and part drawings.
• Operate and maintain woodworking machinery (mechanical and CNC).
• Set up jobs efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize output.
• Inspect parts for quality, yield, and dimensional accuracy.
• Perform and log preventive maintenance tasks.
• Assist with material handling and off-bearing as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Qualifications

• Prior experience operating woodworking or manufacturing machinery.
• Ability to identify wood species and make grading decisions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read blueprints and production documents.
• Comfortable working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Team-oriented with a strong work ethic.
