Description

Job Title: Utility LocatorJob Description

As a Utility Locator, you will assist the designator by transporting locating equipment to and from job sites. You will support the testhole foreman by capturing images of measure downs, utility sizes, and pavement thicknesses for test holes. Your role will involve performing levels and completing level notes to the top of exposed utilities before backfilling test holes. Additionally, you will backfill, compact, and patch excavated test holes, and ensure the site is cleaned and restored before leaving each day.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in carrying locating equipment to job sites.
  • Capture images of measure downs, utility sizes, and pavement thicknesses for test holes.
  • Perform levels and complete level notes on exposed utilities.
  • Backfill, compact, and patch test holes.
  • Clean and restore job sites daily.
  • Ensure utility designation and location tasks are performed safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to contract documents and jurisdiction standards for data collection.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to follow directions from the Party Chief with a focus on quality data collection.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills.
  • At least 3 years of field experience in utility locating.
  • Experience with utility designation and working with vac trucks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High interest in surveying.
  • Experience with location mapping software.
  • Familiarity with GPS and the utility industry.

Work Environment

The work environment involves reporting to the Party Chief or Field Coordinator to assist with survey tasks. The role requires adherence to contract documents and compliance with company policies. Work is conducted 100% in the field, with opportunities for overtime based on workload and personal preference.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of WINDSOR MILL, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
