What You'll Do

• Serve as technical owner for electrical scope on utility-scale solar and BESS projects from 50 to 300 MW
• Manage external Engineer of Record partners: drive schedule, technical refinement of designs and delivery for the customer
• Guide string layouts, voltage drop, conductor sizing, inverter selection, grounding and MV collection design through design milestones to IFC
• Understand how the reactive power study and inverter selection affect substation design, and how substation design feeds back into PV design (substation is typically subcontracted)
• Work with in-house drafters on construction details such as underground conduit routing, equipment stub-ups and pad details
• Catch design and calculation errors before they reach the field
• Support estimating as new projects come in, helping scope and plan how to attack them
• Hand projects off to construction, answer field questions and RFIs, and work with the EOR on construction changes
• Support PV-plus-storage and standalone BESS projects
• Mentor less experienced engineers and help build the team's technical standards

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
• Hands-on solar electrical design experience on projects 50 MW and up; this is required
• EPC or engineering firm background; EPC experience preferred
• Strong command of string layouts, voltage drop, inverter configuration, grounding and MV collection
• Working understanding of reactive power studies, substation interface and interconnection
• Experience managing or coordinating outside engineering firms through design and construction
• Strong project management skills and the ability to build relationships and drive resolution quickly
• Still wants to do the technical work, not just oversee it
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVcase and Microsoft Office; ETAP or SKM a plus
• BESS experience and a PE license are pluses, not requirements
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving history; ability to pass a drug screen and background check
• US work authorization; sponsorship is not available
