Job Description
Looking to make a difference in our community in a part-time position? We are hiring a Utilities Technician, responsible for overseeing the offloading process of hazardous materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Monitors chemical offloading processes. Monitors chemical tank levels, performs visual, olfactory, and auditory checks of assigned areas of the treatment plant to detect any failures, and completes offloading process paperwork
Reviews and responses to emails regarding work responsibilities
Directs and provides customer service to drivers and assures offloading driver adheres to safety check list and wears proper PPE.
Notifies SCADA operator, Chief Operator, or Operations Supervisor of the following: Any issues with chemical quality, or offloading process, New fluoride concentration, Critical issues in the offloading areas, Deficiencies of safety showers, fire extinguishers, or AED units (may include notifying required maintenance personnel)
Performs quality control analysis for chemicals being delivered
Completes dilution calculation for sodium hypochlorite and fluoride
Conducts weekly facility equipment inspections, including weekly safety showers, fire extinguishers, and AED
Writes Service Request in City Works system for any equipment or areas of the assigned workspace needing repairs
Attends all required team meetings, virtual trainings, and safety training
Safely operates a City vehicle around work site
Performs general housekeeping in work areas related to the position
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Employees may occasionally work in an office or similar indoor environment, outdoor environment, at a construction site, or in a vehicle.
Work Exposures:
There is frequent exposure to loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction). Employees may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts,fumesor airborne particles, and toxic or caustic substances.
