USVI Tobacco Compliance Officer

CES is looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals to assist Underage Purchasers in performing non-confrontational compliance checks on local tobacco retailers to ensure the sale of tobacco products to Underage Purchasers is restricted. Inspectors are required to be current Virgin Islands law enforcement official or current employees of health regulatory agencies.

• Must be an active VI law enforcement official
• Or a current employees of health regulatory agencies
• Must possess a reliable vehicle to travel and conduct inspections

CES is looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals to assist Underage Purchasers in performing non-confrontational compliance checks on local tobacco retailers to ensure the sale of tobacco products to Underage Purchasers is restricted. The inspection is used to establish a retailer’s compliance with federal regulations.
  
Inspectors are required to be current Virgin Islands law enforcement official or current employees of health regulatory agencies. This work is conducted on a part-time, case-volume basis with flexibility relevant to the individual’s schedule. An ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a flexible schedule.
  
Duties/Responsibilities:  

• Travel with an Underage Purchaser; identify and verify site address provided
• Facilitate and observe undercover buys in coordination with trained Underage Purchasers
• Collect evidence of violations, such as photographs and tobacco products
• Complete compliance check inspection forms, detailing any violations, when applicable
• Review retailers for compliance of advertising & labeling signage

Required qualifications/skills:

• Must be a current law enforcement officer or employee of health regulatory agency to be eligible. Individuals employed by the Department of Health are encouraged to apply.
• Must have reliable transportation
• Attention to detail
• Strict adherence to deadlines and privacy

• All Compliance Inspectors will complete a training session
• Must be able to undergo a security clearance background check and become credentialed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
