National Mental Health Corps (NMHC) AmeriCorps Volunteers serve alongside community organizations and institutions to expand access to mental health education, prevention, and support services. At the University of South Carolina, members support campus mental health outreach and student wellness initiatives by helping plan and implement engagement activities, awareness events, and educational programming. Members assist with outreach, communications, partnership development, and efforts to connect students with mental health resources. Volunteers also contribute to program tracking, evaluation, and sustainability efforts that strengthen campus mental health initiatives. Through NMHC and host-site training in evidence-based interventions such as Mental Health First Aid and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), members help increase awareness, reduce stigma, and promote early intervention and well-being across the USC community.
