DevOps Engineer
Job Description:
Required Technical Skills
Data Platform/Data Engineering
Kubernetes — container orchestration for app deployments (URP and others running on K8s)
Jenkins — CI/CD pipeline management
AWS CDK / Terraform — infrastructure as code, environment provisioning
AWS — core cloud infrastructure and services
Grafana — observability, dashboards, alerting across platforms
CATS (cloud Applications and technology as a Service) platform
Day-to-Day Service Management
Incident, problem, and change management across all in-scope applications
Triage, root cause investigation, and escalation to platform/engineering owners
Change request execution coordinated with app owners
Operations Best Practices
Observability and monitoring (Grafana/Prometheus/Loki stack, app-specific dashboards and alerting)
Automation of recurring operational tasks (credential renewals, health checks, routine data fixes)
Continuous Improvement via AI & Automation
Apply AI/automation to reduce recurring incident volume and improve MTTR
Convert recurring incident patterns into Problem records and preventive fixes
Independent Platform Operation
Operate from existing runbooks/documentation without hand-holding from app owners
Self-resolve using established knowledge sources before escalating
Compliance & Risk Support
CAPA support, access roster reviews (e.g., FTZ quarterly reviews), audit readiness
Track expiring app registrations, credentials, and certificates
Platform Onboarding, Patches/Upgrades & Environment Management
Onboard new data sources/instruments/integrations (e.g., instruments for Jarvis, data sources for PandoTree, workflows for Knime)
Apply patches and version upgrades across platforms and dependencies
Manage Dev/QA/Prod environments — promotion, configuration parity, environment health
Credential and access provisioning/rotation across platforms
Staffing & Knowledge Continuity
Vet and ramp new team members against platform-specific skill needs
Maintain coverage so no platform is single-threaded on one person
Status Visibility
Light-touch reporting on platform health, open items, and recurring risks
