    Description


    Background & Purpose of the Role

    The Customer Logistics Specialist serves as a key operational partner within the transportation organization, responsible for ensuring the successful execution of customer shipments across the transportation network. This role manages transportation activities from shipment creation through final delivery while balancing customer service, operational efficiency, and logistics cost objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    Transportation Operations Management


    • Manage daily transportation execution for assigned customers and distribution centers.

    • Tender shipments to carriers and ensure timely pickup and delivery performance.

    • Monitor shipment status and proactively address transportation exceptions.

    • Coordinate with carriers, warehouses, customer service, and planning teams to resolve operational issues.

    • Manage transportation accessorial requests and validate associated costs.



    Customer & Carrier Management


    • Build strong relationships with transportation providers and internal stakeholders.

    • Serve as the primary transportation contact for assigned customers.

    • Escalate and drive resolution for service, capacity, and delivery issues.

    • Support carrier performance discussions and corrective action planning.



    Performance Management


    • Monitor transportation KPIs including On-Time Delivery, CCOT, Spot %, Contract Compliance, and Cost Performance.

    • Analyze service failures and identify root causes.

    • Develop and deliver weekly and monthly performance reporting.

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability, cost, and efficiency.



    Project & Continuous Improvement Support


    • Participate in transportation projects, pilots, and process improvement initiatives.

    • Support transportation sourcing events, mini-bids, and annual carrier procurement activities.

    • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and improved ways of working.

    • Utilize data and analytics to recommend operational improvements.



    Systems & Data Management


    • Execute transportation activities using OTM, SAP, Excel, Power BI, and related supply chain systems.

    • Ensure data accuracy across transportation platforms and reporting tools.

    • Maintain transportation records, documentation, and operational reporting.


    Qualifications

    Required


    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field.

    • 3-8 years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, or customer operations experience.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.



    Preferred


    • Experience with OTM, SAP, Power BI, or transportation management systems.

    • Experience managing transportation KPIs and carrier performance.

    • Knowledge of customer transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations.

    • Experience supporting continuous improvement or logistics projects.
