Title: Storage Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, UT or NJ/NY Area
Work Model: 100% Onsite (5 days/week in office)

Focus Area: Product Engineering, Testing & Certification (Primary focus on engineering over operational support)
 
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to focus on product evaluation, testing, engineering, and code certification. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise-level block storage, data protection solutions, and fabric switches, alongside an engineering mindset focused on DevOps practices, SRE principles, and multi-OS performance profiling.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead product evaluation, testing, engineering, and code certification for enterprise storage and backup infrastructure.
• Follow and deliver Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) documentation as part of the formal evaluation and certification process.
• Tune and profile I/O and network stacks across Linux/UNIX and Windows environments.
• Design and implement SRE principles (SLI/SLO, synthetic probers, user journeys) to ensure reliable service delivery using resilient architecture.
• Collaborate using DevOps methodologies and version control systems.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required)

• Enterprise Storage Experience: Current or recent experience working in an enterprise-level storage environment.
• Core Product Expertise:
  • Hands-on experience with Pure Storage FlashArray block storage products.
  • Experience with Rubrik r6000 series data protection products.
  • Experience with Brocade G-series fabric switch products.
• Systems & Tuning: Competency in Windows and Linux/UNIX-like operating systems, including I/O/network stack tuning and performance profiling.
• Documentation & Process: Proven capability to produce formal PDLC-type documentation.
• DevOps & SRE:
  • Familiarity with version control systems (GitLab, SVN).
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles (user journeys, SLIs/SLOs, synthetic probers).
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineering Focus: Background heavily weighted toward Product Engineering, Product Testing, and Code Certification rather than day-to-day operational support.
• Hybrid Cloud: Experience engineering and operating hybrid cloud delivery models with emphasis on data coherency between on-premise and off-premise systems.
• Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or other scripting languages with a focus on testing and sound SDLC practices.
• Hyperscalers & Virtualization: Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure, and ESXi hypervisors.

Beneficial Experience (Nice to Have)

• Storage Systems: Dell/Hitachi block storage; NetApp/Dell Unity file storage.
• Backup Solutions: EMC NetWorker, Data Domain.
• Observability: Elasticsearch and Kibana (ELK stack).
