Position Title: Principal - Platform Engineer

Location:= US Remote

Basic Qualifications:

Deep expertise in Azure, API Management, AI Gateway patterns, Terraform, platform security, infrastructure automation, observability, and modern platform engineering practices.

Required Skills:

• Experience in designing and implementing Azure API Management solutions.
• Expertise in platform architecture and strategy.
• Strong understanding of security and platform hardening.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Proficient in CI/CD patterns using Azure DevOps.
• Experience in migration and modernization of API platforms.
• Knowledge of observability and operational excellence practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in leading API inventory, classification, and migration planning.
• Ability to develop automation frameworks for platform provisioning.
• Experience in establishing platform standards and governance models.

Role and responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of the next-generation API and AI Platform leveraging Azure API Management and Azure AI Gateway capabilities.
• Define target-state architectures and establish platform standards, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps.
• Drive technical decisions related to traffic segregation, WAF integration, firewall architecture, and AI governance.
• Implement Azure AI Gateway capabilities including LLM access governance, model routing and failover, and AI security controls.
• Strengthen API security posture through policy-based controls and network restrictions.
• Lead Infrastructure-as-Code implementation and establish CI/CD patterns using Azure DevOps.
• Develop migration playbooks, cutover procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Design comprehensive observability capabilities and establish operational dashboards and governance scorecards.

Job description:

Seeking a Principal, Platform Engineer to lead the architecture, design, engineering, and modernization of the Enterprise API and AI Platform. This strategic role will support the Enterprise API & AI Security Modernization Program focused on transforming Azure API Management into a secure, scalable, governed platform for Internal APIs, External APIs, AI Services, LLMs, Agents, and future AI workloads. The Principal Platform Engineer will partner with various teams to establish a target-state architecture that separates internal and external API traffic, enables Azure AI Gateway capabilities, strengthens API security controls, improves operational resiliency, and accelerates developer productivity through automation and self-service capabilities.
