Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer specializing in RDK-B with strong expertise in broadband gateway technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting advanced networking features for home and business gateway products built on the RDK-B platform.
This role requires close collaboration with chipset vendors, cross-functional engineering teams, and customer support teams to deliver robust, scalable, secure, and high-performance embedded networking solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and integrate embedded software components for gateway and extender products.
• Develop and enhance networking features including Parental Controls, firewall/iptables, DHCP, SNMP, TR-069/TR-181, and network management.
• Debug and resolve complex issues within embedded Linux environments, including both kernel space and user space.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, chipset vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with platform standards and seamless system integration.
• Analyze and optimize system and network performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported software and networking issues.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high software quality standards.
• Develop and execute unit tests using GTest/GMock.
• Support and participate in CI/CD processes and software release activities.

Must-Have Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in embedded software development using C; C++ experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of RDK-B, OpenWRT, and/or prplOS architecture and broadband gateway technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux, including kernel-level concepts, user-space development, and system debugging.
• Strong understanding of the TCP/IP stack and networking protocols including DHCP, DNS, and HTTP.
• Strong knowledge of network packet flow and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with firewall/iptables and IPv6 transition technologies.
• Experience with source control and code review tools such as Git and Gerrit.
• Experience with debugging and network analysis tools such as GDB, Valgrind, Wireshark, and tcpdump.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex embedded environments.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Wi-Fi technologies and IEEE 802.11 standards, including 802.11n/ac/ax.
• Knowledge of DOCSIS, MoCA, and other broadband technologies.
• Familiarity with TR-069, TR-181, SNMP, and remote management protocols.
• Exposure to chipset SDKs such as Broadcom, Qualcomm, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of security technologies and protocols including WPA3, RADIUS, and SSL/TLS.
• Experience with Docker/containerization and CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting experience using Python and/or Shell for automation, debugging, and testing.
