Position Overview:The TRIO Program Upward Bound at NCMC is seeking a motivated and dedicated college student to join our team as a Tutor-Mentor for afterschool tutoring sessions. Other time may be spent providing in-office assistance. This role is ideal for a current college student who is interested in helping disadvantaged high school students succeed academically and personally. Both those students who are work study eligible and not work study eligible will be considered. $15 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tutoring in Math and English coursework for students in grades 9-12.
  • Travel with staff to area high schools to offer tutoring support, as student worker's college schedule allows.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including filing, data entry, event preparation, and creating content for social media accounts.
  • Contribute to the creation and distribution of flyers, publications and other project-related materials.
  • Participate in various projects and tasks as needed to support the Upward Bound program.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at NCMC.
  • Strong proficiency in Math and English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and able to travel to local high schools with program staff.
  • Experience with social media and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Preference will be given to students who are from low-income backgrounds or are first-generation college students, similar to the students served by the Upward Bound Project.
