SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Communications and Marketing Intern supports the development and execution of marketing and communication efforts to promote the organization’s mission, programs and events. This role provides hands-on experience in content creation, social media management and brand storytelling while working closely with the communications and marketing team.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field 
•Strong written and verbal communication skills 
•Familiarity with social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn 
•Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace 
•Creative mindset with strong attention to detail 
•Excellent organizational and time management skills 
•Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
•Adaptable, proactive and eager to learn 
•Willingness to take initiative and support team needs 
•Availability to work as needed, including occasional weekends
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Assist in drafting and editing content for social media, newsletters and website updates
 
•Help develop stories, posts and visuals that highlight organizational impact
•Support basic graphic design using tools like Canva and Adobe Illustrator
•Schedule and publish content across social media platforms
•Monitor engagement (likes, comments, shares) and report basic metrics
•Assist in brainstorming campaign ideas and trends
•Record social media trends
•Take Pictures
•Help draft internal and external communications (emails, announcements, etc.)
•Assist with proofreading and editing materials
•Assist in promoting events and campaigns
•Help with event preparation, coordination, and on-site support if needed
•Organize files, images and marketing materials
•Conduct basic research on marketing trends or audience insights
•Collaborate with team members on various projects
•Set up lunch and events
•Reach out to people for content creation
 
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
•Gain hands-on experience in marketing campaigns and communications strategy
•Build a portfolio of writing, social media and design work
•Learn brand management and nonprofit storytelling
•Exposure to event planning and community engagement
 
VOLUNTEER SPECIFICATIONS:
•Enrollment in an undergraduate program or recent graduate in any major with a demonstrated interest in marketing, communications and or public relations.
•Minimum GPA of 3.0.
•Interest in or experience with marketing, communications and or public relations.
•Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
•Ability to follow a consistent schedule
