The Ilitch School Career Services University Counselor I provides comprehensive career development support to Wayne State University business students and alumni through individual and group career counseling career readiness programming and guidance on academic majors career pathways internships and employment opportunities. The Counselor I collaborates with Career Services staff employers and faculty to support student success retention and post-graduation outcomes. Provide individual career counseling to students and alumni on topics including career exploration major selection job and internship search strategies résumé and cover letter development interviewing skills and graduateprofessional school preparation. Design and deliver workshops presentations and classroom visits focused on career readiness professional development and employment preparation. Assist students with utilizing career management platforms e.g. Handshake career assessments and labor market resources. Support employer engagement initiatives including career fairs on-campus recruiting employer information sessions and networking events. Collaborate with academic departments student support services and campus partners to integrate career development into the student experience. Maintain accurate advising records appointment notes and outcome data in accordance with departmental and university standards. Support special programs and initiatives related to internships experiential learning equity and access and student career outcomes. Participate in staff meetings training and ongoing professional development.Perform other duties as assigned.
