| The Unit Secretary works cooperatively with all members of the health care team in performing clerical and receptionist duties and assists clinical personnel with nonclinical duties. |

- Acts as receptionist on the unit: answers phone and patient call system in a timely manner uses proper phone etiquette greets patients, visitors, physicians, and employees; ascertains needs and routes accordingly takes and relays messages to personnel on the unit in a timely manner ensures excellent customer service
- Schedules patients, after obtaining patients demographic and insurance information/authorizations into the scheduling system in a timely manner
- Ensures medical charts for new patients are prepared prior to the date of service
- Pulls medical records for established patients prior to the date of service
- Updates, copies, and files medical records as directed
- Maintains and collects statistics related to departmental operations as directed
