Location: Portland Metro Area (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Compensation: $65,000-$78,000 annually

Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in processing complex, multi-state payroll while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional internal customer service. This individual will support payroll operations for a large employee population across multiple states and union environments, while partnering closely with the Payroll Manager and payroll team.
Key Responsibilities
Process high-volume payroll for approximately 1,300 employees across multiple states on a weekly basis.
Audit timekeeping and payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Review payroll records and identify discrepancies, making corrections as needed.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Assist with payroll tax reporting and related compliance requirements.
Prepare payroll reports and provide analysis for management review.
Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with month-end and year-end processes.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely, professional manner.
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
Collaborate with internal teams to support payroll operations and process improvements.
Communicate payroll concerns and escalate issues when appropriate.
Qualifications
Required
2+ years of payroll experience.
Experience processing high-volume, multi-state payroll.
Strong understanding of payroll compliance and payroll best practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other payroll-related software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic.
Preferred
Experience processing union payroll.
Experience working in complex payroll environments with multiple jurisdictions.
5+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience.
