Trumbull-Brayman Joint Venture is seeking an experienced Union Lead Mechanic to support the Montgomery Lock & Dam Project in Monaca, Pennsylvania, a major U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) infrastructure project with an estimated 8-year duration.This is a long-term, full-time leadership position responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment used on a large-scale heavy civil project. The Lead Mechanic will oversee equipment maintenance operations including direct supervision of on-site mechanics and support the project by ensuring machinery and vehicles remain safe, reliable, and operational.This position offers stable, long-term employment on a high-profile federal infrastructure project.SCHEDULE & COMPENSATIONThe typical work schedule is Monday through Friday - approximately 40 hours per week, with additional overtime available based on project needs and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.This is a union position, and the successful candidate will become a member of the applicable Operating Engineers Local.Compensation includes:Union wage starting at $44.96+ per hour based on experienceOvertime payMedical / Prescription Drug InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsurancePension PlanAdditional benefits provided through the collective bargaining agreementKEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Lead Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy construction equipment while coordinating maintenance activities to support project operations.Responsibilities include:Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy construction equipment and vehiclesPerforming preventative maintenance on equipment including excavators, cranes, loaders, trucks, compressors, and generatorsDiagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issuesCoordinating maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtimeMaintaining maintenance records and equipment service documentationEnsuring all equipment is maintained in compliance with company and USACE safety standardsSupervising and assisting mechanics or service technicians as neededCoordinating with project supervision regarding equipment needs and repairsSupporting field operations by responding to equipment breakdowns and emergency repairsMaintaining organized and safe maintenance work areasThe Lead Mechanic is expected to serve as a hands-on field leader, capable of performing repairs while coordinating maintenance activities that support daily construction operations.QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATIONMinimum 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipmentPrior lead mechanic or supervisory experience preferredStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment componentsExperience working with excavators, cranes, loaders, trucks, and other construction equipmentAbility to troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic system failuresAbility to safely operate diagnostic tools, hand tools, and repair equipmentStrong problem-solving and communication skillsCommitment to maintaining safe work practicesAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredTechnical training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance preferredRecent and verifiable work history requiredWORK ENVIRONMENTWork is performed outdoors on an active heavy civil construction project. Duties involve physical labor including lifting, bending, climbing, and working around heavy equipment and construction machinery.SAFETYThis is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis.
