The Uniform Patrol Promotion Board is currently accepting letters of application for promotion to the rank of Substation Sergeant. Successful candidates will be added to the existing promotional list.If you are already on the promotional list, there is no need to reapply. Job Duties: Provides general law enforcement work to protect lives, property, and rights of the public. Work involves answering complaint calls and patrolling in an official vehicle, motorcycle or on foot to deter crime or apprehend violators or suspects; securing crime scenes and enforcing all traffic and safety laws.Must successfully complete FTO training (Prior to or after promotion)Approves completed reports, probable cause, and warrants of subordinate personnel.Arranges work schedule as necessary to cover shifts of absent personnel.Assists subordinate personnel by recommending appropriate actions, methods, or procedures to be used.Performs inspections of equipment and uniforms.Conducts patrols of residential neighborhoods, businesses, and schools in a vehicle, motorcycle, or on foot to reduce and deter crime activity.Provides traffic control, investigates traffic accidents, and writes citations.Investigates citizen complaints by interviewing complainants, witnesses, and suspects.Investigates and secures crime scenes.Gathers evidence necessary to substantiate charges.Writes detailed reports regarding complaints, evidence, and other investigative information.Participates in community events and interacts with the public.Makes lawful and legal arrests of those who violate the law.Appears as a witness in court as necessary.Performs first aid/CPR as necessary.Enforces speed limit with use of radar gun.Performs desk duty at the Substation when necessary.Answer questions from the general public.Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years continuous service in Criminal Operations, 18 months of that service in Uniform Patrol. Served as a Corporal in Criminal Operations or as an FTO for 12 months.Prior supervisory service in criminal operations at another agency may be considered. For FTO service to be counted, candidate must currently be active within the FTO program. A letter from the FTO coordinator must be submitted with packet. No disciplinary suspensions in the last (6) six months; all other disciplinary or corrective actions will be reviewed by the committee.Basic Law Enforcement P.O.S.T Certification Good communication, public relations, and problem-solving skills. Note:You must have at least 12 months of continuous service with EBRSO before being eligible for promotion.Applicants must meet the qualifications by the deadline stated in the job posting to be considered "qualified". Candidates will remain on the promotional list unless they receive a disciplinary suspension or decline an offered promotion.Candidates that meet the qualifications will be notified of the date for a written examination.
