    Commercial Lines Underwriter

    A growing insurance organization is seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter to join its underwriting team. This individual will play a key role in evaluating risks, supporting policy servicing activities, and helping drive profitable growth across a diversified small business portfolio.

    This position is ideal for an underwriting professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values collaboration, and is comfortable balancing risk assessment with customer and broker support responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    • Review and evaluate commercial risks to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives
    • Handle underwriting referrals, post-bind reviews, endorsements, policy rewrites, cancellations, and other servicing requests
    • Analyze risk exposures and make underwriting decisions consistent with company appetite
    • Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver a high-quality customer experience throughout the policy lifecycle
    • Respond to inquiries and assist with policy-related issues, billing discrepancies, and reporting needs
    • Support ongoing process improvements and adapt to evolving underwriting guidelines, technology platforms, and business priorities
    • Participate in premium audit-related activities, including written correspondence with policyholders and other stakeholders

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience
    • Experience underwriting small commercial accounts is strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of one or more of the following lines: General Liability, Commercial Property, Workers Compensation, and Commercial Auto
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a dynamic environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
