As a company we bring strong private capital and a commitment to risk management to the mortgage insurance industry.Title Underwriter - Mortgage InsuranceLocation Radnor PA or RemoteThis is an individual contributor position which works under regular supervision and is responsible for the reviewing and underwriting of mortgage insurance applications to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with Essent guidelines. Maintains productivity quality and service level standards while delivering consistent sound underwriting decisions and exceptional customer service. As a dynamic and resourceful professional we will rely on you to perform the following duties Underwrite mortgage insurance application files for acceptable risk based on published guidelines. Analyze loan characteristics and risk factors to determine mortgage insurance eligibility and make sound underwriting decisions in accordance with published underwriting guidelinesDocument underwriting decisions conditions and rationale accurately within company systems and workflow tools.Apply Essent underwriting guidelines lender-specific variances and any approved underwriting programs consistently while exercising appropriate underwriting judgment.Execute tasks to meet established productivity and quality metrics. Work closely with Lenders Essent BD Team members and appropriate Manager for guideline and process clarification in addition to effectively communicating loan level decisions. Participate in training staff meetings and respond to QA reviews.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Minimum Education & Experience Requirements High School diplomaGED bachelors degree in business or related field preferredThree 3 years of underwriting experience in the mortgage banking industry requiredSpecific mortgage insurance industry experience including knowledge of premium coverage requirements desirableWillingness to participate in overtime and weekend work when needed to support Essent turn-time service level agreements.Superior customer service skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionSelf-motivated and detail orientedExcellent organizational technical and relationship skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCapable of presenting difficult responses in a positive manner to protect client relationshipsAbility to maintain quality standards while maintaining acceptable productivity levelsExpertise knowledge of Fannie MaeFreddie Mac underwriting guidelines and DULPA automated underwriting systems.Capable of performing complex self-employment income calculationsExperienced user of Microsoft Office suite and ability to work effectively with imaging and workflow systems Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with conflict deadlinesStrong collaboration and teamwork focus with ability to work productively as part of a team and as an individual contributorOur commitment to your success is enhanced by our competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including paid time off medical dental vision 401k and disability benefits.
