CREDIT UNDERWRITER / LOAN PROCESSING SPECIALIST

Phoenix / Tempe, AZ | Remote – Must Reside in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• Pay Rate: $26.63 per hour
• Schedule: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Arizona Time (AZT)
• Employment Type: W2 Contract-to-Hire
• Work Arrangement: Remote with company-provided workstation. Position may transition to onsite work in Tempe, AZ if an office location becomes available.

ROLE IMPACT

CornerStone Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Credit Underwriter / Loan Processing Specialist to support a growing consumer lending operation. This position plays a critical role in reviewing credit applications, assessing financial risk, and making accurate lending decisions while meeting established service level agreements (SLAs). The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, demonstrates sound judgment, and delivers excellent customer service to dealer partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review, process, and decision consumer credit applications according to established underwriting guidelines, fraud prevention procedures, and lending policies.
• Evaluate applicant creditworthiness, loan-to-value (LTV) ratios, promotional financing programs, and risk factors to make accurate lending decisions.
• Maintain accurate applicant and dealer records, document underwriting decisions, and ensure applications are processed within required service level agreements (SLAs).
• Respond to dealer and customer inquiries regarding credit decisions, financing options, promotional programs, operational procedures, and loan documentation.
• Support dealer relationships, assist with operational initiatives, and follow established Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) compliance and fraud prevention procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with customers, dealers, and internal teams.
• Proven ability to multitask, maintain accuracy, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours as business needs require and reside within the Phoenix metropolitan area.

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Bachelor's degree or experience in retail finance, indirect lending, consumer credit underwriting, or financial services.
• Previous customer service experience with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems, with knowledge of fraud prevention, BSA/AML compliance, and lending regulations.
