Underground Utility Worker

Job description - Hourly Position

The essential functions of this position are:

1.* Operate mining equipment consistent with task training and operational necessities of the mine

2.* Assist in maintenance activities consistent with training and the needs of the mine

3.* Set floor to roof supports

4.* Build or hang ventilation controls

5.* Hang and handle power cables

6.* Lay rail

7.* Rock Dust

8.* Shovel and cleanup spillage

9.* Load and unload supplies and handle materials

10.* Mine drainage including pumping and ditching

11.* Assist in power moves

12.* Assist in belt moves, installation and repair

13.* Watch out for the safety of self and co-workers

14.* Perform all required pre-operational checks before operating equipment

The marginal activities of this position are:

• Perform any other assigned tasks for which he or she is qualified by virtue of training or experience

Work Schedule:

• 8 hour shift + hot seat
• Rotating shifts
• Monday through Friday, occasional Saturday
• Overtime – as required, and/or voluntary

License/Certification:

• WV Miner's Card - Black Hat (Required)

Physical Requirements:

• Operate equipment in a safe efficient manner
• Use various hand tools
• Lift, carry, push, pull – tools, materials and supplies 50 – 100 lbs. regularly.
• Walk, bend, climb, reach, crawl as necessary
• Work Closely with others in a team environment
