Underground Utility Pipe Crew Lead

Job Summary

Tradeco Construction Staffing is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Pipe Crew Lead for a long-term civil construction project in Thonotosassa, FL.

We are looking for a hands-on leader with a strong background in underground utility installation who can lead a small crew while actively participating in daily field operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience installing storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems, along with the ability to read utility plans and maintain accurate pipe line, slope, and grade.

This is a working leadership position. Candidates must be comfortable directing pipelayers and laborers while working alongside the crew.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside a crew of pipelayers and laborers.
• Install underground storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems.
• Coordinate trench preparation, pipe bedding, connections, and backfilling.
• Read and interpret utility plans, construction drawings, and elevations.
• Establish and maintain proper pipe alignment, slope, line, and grade.
• Coordinate daily activities with excavator operators and site supervision.
• Monitor pipe installation, joints, connections, and overall workmanship.
• Organize crew assignments, materials, and daily production activities.
• Maintain a safe jobsite and follow trenching and excavation safety procedures.
